226. A straight pipe 1 yard in length was marked off in fourths and also in thirds. If the pipe was then cut into separate pieces at each of these markings, which of the following gives all the different lengths of the pieces, in fractions of a yard?
答案是1/12, 1/6 and 1/4.

题就没看懂……pipe是取带子的意思么？ in fourths and in thirds又是什么意思啊……求解

一个1 yard的直管，同时被标记为四等分和三等分，如果管子在每个标记处分别被截断，问哪个选项把所有不同的长度列了出来

画个图，数轴，先四等分再三等分。
也就是，先看1被四等分，有四段，第一段是1/4，完整的；第二个1/4被三等分标记截断，在1/3处，所以这一段长度1/3-1/4=1/12。下一段看三等分比较好算，就是三等分的第二段被四等分从中间截断，1/3 * 1/2=1/6...
说得好晦涩画个数轴就好了= =。
