胡乱说一下, 我觉得这道题的关键是be balanced, 注意到balance就可以理解为什么选C了.

楼上说的很正确,知道balance=weigh;答案很明显,不知道的话,就要猜测那句话的隐含意思.

另外,比较必须要有共同语言,若一方提了,另一方没提,纵然这方说的是对的,也非正确选项.

就是嘛,这道题很明显就是同义替换嘛,be balanced against other types of investments on the

basis of direct, tangible benefits与C:basis on which they need to be weighed. 本来在OG上看得挺明白的,一看到这些讨论反而混乱了

我觉得直接用有关无关就能判断了.A,文章是说tangible benefits而不是tangibility of the benefits,主语不同,这个意思比较微妙,当初我也是这里弄混了.

假设用代号S来替investments in service,用P&D来代表 those(investments) in production and distribution.

226题(OG11-46 review)要问我们的是S 和 P&D之间的相似处(comparable)是根据什么??

Longman Dict：Comparable：similar to something else in size, number, quality etc, so that you can make a comparison;

 

我人认为原句的句意是：S 就跟 P&D有相似处，哪里相似呢? 就是

1. S must be balanced against other types of investments on the
            

basis of direct, tangible benefits such as cost reduction and
            

increased revenues.

2. P&D must be balanced against other types of investments on the
            

basis of direct, tangible benefits such as cost reduction and
            

increased revenues.

 

我再把other types of investments用代号O来代替：

1. S 必须 balanced against O on the basis of ~~ revenues.

2. P&D必须 balanced against O on the basis of ~~ revenues

回到226题，题意是在问什么?? 它在问 S 跟 P&D之间的相似处，而它们的相似处就是必须 balanced against O，于是我们就在选项里面找有balance或是它的同义字，结果就是标准答案B里的weighted。

 

为什么A、B不能选呢? 好，再把原句后面的on the basis of direct, tangible benefits such as cost reduction and increased revenues.改成代号，就叫做Basis DTB好了，Basis DTB就当作是一个集合，它包含很多种的basis，而basis-cr(cost reduction)跟basis-ir (increased revenues)都是其中之一。

 

所以再来一次
        原句就是：

1.S must be balance against O on the BasisDTB such as basis-cr and basis-ir.

2. P&D must be balance against O on the BasisDTB such as basis-cr and basis-ir.

单独只看第一句，你会发现S 跟 O之间好像也有相似之处----那就是它们在同一个基础上(BasisDTB)，同样的只看第二句也是如此---P&D跟O之间也在同一个基础上

所以~如果本题改成问我们，请问S 跟 O 之间有什么相似处呢?

那答案就是A(BasisDTB) 或是 B(BasisDTB-ir)了。

改成问我们P&D 跟O之间的相似处
        答案也会是A或B

 

我觉得本题的关键是要分清楚P&D(investments in production and distribution)的角色，P&D是跟S同一阵线的(我指的是在Line4这个句子中)，它们共同against O这个敌人。当然就常识而言，P&D当然也是属于other types of investment，所以会把S跟 P&D之间的相似处当成S跟O之间的相似处来回答，这也正是ETS为何能够用A、B来混淆我们，但我们要清楚本句句意并非如此，在这句之中，P&D已经从O分出来了。

This question asks you to identify a similarity between investments in service and investments in

OG用词很讲究：equate, verb, consider (one thing) to be the same as or equivalent to another

注意原文的细节: "... on the basis of direct, tangible benefits such as cost reduction and increased revenues."

investments in service和investments in production and distribution都会带来tangible benefits, 比如
(1) reduce the waiting time (service),
(2) reduce the number of material scraps (production),
(3) reduce the rental costs of warehouses (distribution)。

但根据这三个间接的(indirect) tangible benefits，managers无法比较不同的投资。只有把(1)和(2)转换为cost reduction，才能比较investments in service和other investments。所以，A中提到的tangiability of benefits是无法compare different investments，to make a decision, managers需要的是直接的（direct）和有形的（tangible）benefits，如cost reduction and increased revenues。

A偷换概念，或简化比较的基准了。
