So far I haven't received any communications from the school regarding the change of class size for Class 2006.

Why do you expect any communication from the school, since I also did not receive any notice on the expansion on class size of Class 2005 before?

May I know whether you a Darden 1st round admit or deferred admit? Enjoy your time before Darden and be well prepared. you will have fun here! ^_^

Class size was expanded for class of 2004. That's why you didn't get anything communicated to you upfront.

I've just read from the darden's website that "International students are not eligible for need-based grants or Federal loans during either year. Therefore, there is no reason for international students to submit a Darden Financial Aid Application, or send for a University of Virginia Application for Financial Aid and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). "

Is this right? Doesn't Darden provide loan to international applicants without a co-signer, does it?

GATE loan is available to everybody and is backed by Darden so no cosigner is required. Need based is different from merit based.

BTW, only US citizen and PR can file FAFSA to get aid from the government.

[Financial aid in Darden]

The financial aid for international student is only GATE loan. This year, the loan can cover all tuition. The procedure to get the loan is quite simple and easy. After you are admitted, Darden will inform you a website to apply the loan. All you have to do is to fill in the form on line and then wait for the Bank to mail an agreement to you. After you sign up the agreement and mail back, Darden will automatically deduct your tuition payable according to the amount you plan to borrow. Pls note that you can not get cash from the loan. (only deduction on the tuition part.) You don't have to find a co-signer. That is one benefit from top business school. The Darden alumni build up a Trust Fund, they automatically become our loan co-signers if we got admitted. (I would suggest you think about the interest rate of the loan and your personal financial situation. How to finance your study is kind of a business skill.)

For US domestic students, they have many more choices to financial aid. The FAFSA is only for students who are US residents. It is sure that the loan to US residents bears lower interest rate, since they are less risky than international students on default of loan. I don't know much about federal loan to US students.
