be frank the financial economics one......those econometrics stuffs can be useful/practical, somehow those financial theory (not that much), and those micro/macro (i.e. core course in econ master) are basically only useful for academics............
I will agree that in  sense of usefulness (or practical), finance + account > finance + econ (another way round for further study). on the side that econ > account (e.g. some analytical side), then it will be FEY fina econ >> account


e.g. for master fina econ: Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Toronto, Columbia, and ....

thanks dude!!Ok, I understand. Fin&econ programs are also very selective..the schools you have mentioned are not easy to apply.

I think I will return to China after graduation, I just want to learn some finance knowledge since I am now interested in finance and consulting. I dont want to learn economic models... And I did care about brand...I plan to apply for MiM and some financial programs.  Do u think I should turn to apply for some applied econ programs? I am really confusing now...

econ model are next to useless in job market anyway (except very few position).

(put MFE out of picture) for you case, I guess MSF and MiM matches the most. for UK this is not a issue, but for US, few top school offer that..........so maybe it worth considering to apply for a bit applied econ master for the name (uni name and subject name, e.g. NYU, Michigan, UCLA, Duke....) as at the end the content doesn't matter as much as the name.

the only question I will like to ask here is: do you really need the master for your career? will it be a better idea to save the time & money, and do it later (e.g. MBA)?

that's my plan now...I wanna  focus more on MSF and MiM and apply for several applied econ program. I have finished GMAT and Toefl, but havent started working on GRE.

If I was a freshman now, I will go for job then MBA. But I have determined to study abroad for my master degree and have put effort for nearly 2 yrs. And u know, if I want to find a finance job  in China, such as IBD or research analyst,  I have to get a master degree. Many firms prefer masters, even though not so much academic knowledge is required.

你知道management science这个项目吗？

我看课程都是mathematical programming, computer modelling等，可是网上对数理的要求也只写了2:1 in a relevant discipline, including first year university mathematics and statistics course。 也没说要strong analytical and quantitative skills。而且录取率还是82/446！ 那到底是不是需要很quant的背景才能申请？我修过这些课，但是有两门非常低只有60/70，其他都是8、90， 所以不知道是不是没希望

我和LZ背景很像，厦大金融本。均分89，G 720(作文4），I 7.5。实习一个四大咨询，一个券商IBD（新三板，非主板），一个国内所，一个银行水实习一个香港保险水项目。获奖一个大创国家级一个国奖，还有一个CIMA华南赛的奖
看了之前录取的背景，感觉自己这个背景去申AF大概是标配，或者标配偏弱一点的程度。。。
说实话现在感觉特别迷茫,没有Plan B，夏令营没报，给我summer的咨询被我为了多做个金融实习给拒了（现在超级后悔感觉自己脑子里有屎！！有屎！！）。看着去top夏令营的拿了offer，做summer的拿了转正....不知道自己这么孤注一掷，最后真的死的很惨要怎么办。
而且这两年为了申请也不容易，准备语言考试，折腾实习，花费的精力并不比准备夏令营，甚至考研的同学少。。。
前两天和中介撕逼了，扔了他们的文书打算DIY，压力又觉得大了一层。。。我感觉我和LZ从背景到career plan都非常像（虽然我感觉比起咨询我喜欢IBD多一点）LZ方便留联系方式吗？感觉我们应该有很多可以交流的
