Hey there!
I think going from engineering to IT consulting is a very natural choice, so you don't have to explain too much. I think that an MBA is perfect to explain what you need in order to make this change - mainly the ability to have a business vision of things - so a bit of marketing, a bit of finance, a bit of presentation skills, and so on...

That's very helpful info! I have very little idea about IT consulting, but I guess it's worth trying. So generally what are the career paths for IT consultants if I may ask?
I'm just brainstorming my essays in which my short term career goal is IT consultant.

Well, as an IT consultant you get more “high-level” vision of things. You see the application of IT to business (as opposed to seeing IT alone), and this bigger vision can prepare you for higher positions of importance, like CTO for example.
