十几天前陆续收到了university of texas at dallas(TA) 和 louisiana state university(RA) 的offer, phd in information systems，两边给的钱差不多. 马上就要决定了，请各位朋友给点意见，比如说专业和学校的名气，地理位置，job market,faculty's reputation。尤其欢迎已在这两所学校读书的朋友给点信息。
I personally feel that UTD has great potential in the future. As far as I know, the Texas higher education board is planning to make UTD as a flagship university as UT Austin is. I have been to Dallas, pretty nice city plus a lot business locate there. If I choose, I pick UTD.
I am currently working in Texas and have been living in Texas for four years. I have heard many similar stories about UTD. The best way to find a better school is go check their faculty team and their papers published, it will give you a good picture about the research reputation. In addition, you can ask their PhD students placement.
Armadillo, what kinds of stories have you heard? Would you please tellme some? UTD is a very young university, founded in 1969, its overallranking is not good, but it seems to be very promising. The facultymembers in IS concentration are mostly from reputated universities suchas Purdue, Rochester, but 60% of them are Indians. I wonder could thosewho have worked with Indian professors share their experiences with us,cuz I have heard from my friends that although this is a case-by-casesituation, some Indians are very tough.
