Some people think that a city should preserve its old buildings, but others think that a city should destroy and replace them with modern buildings. In my opinion, a city should preserve its old buildings because of its educational function and economic benefit. The arguments of my viewpoint are listed as follows.

The first reason for my propensity to make this choice is that citizens can know the culture and history of a city by visiting the city's old buildings. In old buildings, people can know what happened in the past and know the great man of the city. Besides, old buildings are also good places to let children understand what kinds of city they live in and know the characteristics of the city. Therefore, I think that it is not proper for a city to demolish its old buildings.

The second reason which is known by everyone is that old buildings are good places for tourists .People from other cities or countries always want to know the differences and characteristics of the city they visit .Therefore , old buildings are wonderful places for tourists to visit . Besides, old buildings may be the reason why people from other cities or countries want to come to the city .Thus, a city's revenue may be affected because its old buildings were destroyed.

The third reason which is still obvious lies in the fact that old buildings are good places for citizens to release their stress. Visiting a old building is also good method to let you walk slowly and take a deep breath .For my example, after working all day in a modern city, I would like to take a rest and drink a coffee just near a old building.

Based on reasons presented above, preserving old buildings is beneficial for all citizens .Besides, if a city destroys its old buildings, its economy may get worse and worse. Therefore, I suggest that a city preserve its old buildings.
