关于你的例子，我觉得在最后加上was比较合理，例子中的结构很清晰，是主语比较，但是前后时态不同，系动词应该补出，原因如前讨论。

这个不太理解,我最近也碰到这样的题...这个是什么和什么平行呢?我总觉得要在as many as后加上those who,但OG说加上之后太wordy...偶实在不太懂呀,哪位牛牛分析下?

严重同意！此处无需补出谓语动词的原因是those已经很好的消除了歧义。这题特殊就特殊在those作为一个复数代词，明确指代calves，而不能指代medication，也就是只能和they比较。

补出谓语动词是为了消除歧义，既然已经用另一种方式消除了歧义，自然无需补出动词了。
