I think most of the people fully engaged in US dream have no idea about the situations in EU. As far as I know the salary of EU phd is 2 to 3 times to the salaries in US ( take the tuitions into account). For example, the legally regulated lowest salaries for PHD students is 1600 euro per month. But I still want to go to US, since the jconditions of job market and salary after graduation is totally reversed in these two places.
