OG里面的一道简单数学题有一点不明白，求解释

第一次接触Gmat，
在OG里面23页的23题
if the positive integer x is a multiple of 4 and the positive integer y is a multiple of 6, then xy must be a multiple of which of the following?
i. 8
ii. 12
iii. 18

书里答案是i and ii only

我的问题是： 为什么不是i , ii, and iii?
比方说x=4, y=18
xy=72
72不就是18的倍数吗？

问的是xy must be a multiple of which
所以需要考虑的是一定是xy的因子的数
显然18是不一定的，举例如x=4,y=6

可以这么做：
设x=4n,y=6m（m和n是正整数）
那么xy=24mn
一定是24的倍数，也就一定是8的倍数和12的倍数
但不一定是18的倍数，除非mn含有因子3
