今天收到mcgill联系导师邮件，但对于对方要求不明确，请坛子里人指教

He suggested that you take your time, say, a week, to give some thoughts on this topic. I suggest that you obtain Prof. A's papers and familiarize yourself with his work and his methodologies first. In addition, a willingness to learn and use quantitative methods (in addition to qualitative methodologies) in your empirical work is preferable. So, could you give me your one-pager by next Monday?

这意思是要我在看完prof.A的文章后，写一个一页纸的实证范式proposal吗？而且实证情景不要在中国。


请问这一页纸写proposal是不是短了点？既要有理论，又要写方法，一两段怎么写的完？请坛子里的人指教。

还没有，这不是寻求帮助来着吗？又要让交一份one-pager，包含thoughts和empirical methods，这是要写成proposal吗？可是proposal要加上theory background一页纸肯定不够啊

只有一页所以别写废话，尽量把idea写清楚，想要用的方法写清楚。就okay了

你的意思是theory background就不要加进去了？直奔主题，把idea写出来，然后是证明的方法？那propositions或者hypothesis要写吗？谢谢了

人家明确规定了根据哪篇论文，说明对方非常熟悉题材。你就写idea，写方法，写的尽量专业一点吧。proposition还是写上吧。。。赶快写吧，写完了再改两稿

有任何不清楚的地方，应该主动发信去问，别自己揣测。

btw, 不知道你申请的是啥方向，如果是OB，那我建议你谨慎对待“a willingness to learn and use quantitative methods (in addition to qualitative methodologies) in your empirical work is preferable”这句话。如果没接触过真正的qualitative research，别在proposal里过多提及这一点，因为你没有那样的知识储备，考读几篇文献也是没有实际意义的。学术圈对于qualitative research有根本性的错误认识，如果那个教授恰巧是qualitative method强的并且懂行的，那最smart的方法就是尽量一带而过qualitative，专注在quantitative方面。
