1.People attend college or university for many different reasons (forexample, new experiences, career preparation, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.



Nowadays, more and more students desire to enter college or university instead of getting a job after graduating from high school. Reasons for gaining higher education vary from people to people.Some take this as a path to a better job while others may only want to meet new friends.In my opinion, people attend college or university to reach three goals,those are to learn specific knowledge,to meet people who has different background and to make themself independent.First of all,the knowledge we learn at high school is broad but basic. For example, we learn not only Chinese, Math, English but also History, Chemistry, Physics, Biology,etc.It seems that we learn almost all subjects, but we don't study deep inside. What we get in high school is just basic knowledge.After people learn basic knowlege at high school, they becom interested in one specific field and in order to know more about this field, they need to go to college. People's desire to knowledge can be satisfied when they choose a major and focus it in college or university.Besides gaining knowledge of science, knowing more about people from other places is also an important reason. Most people grow up at hometown, which means their friends are all from their own places. They have the same accent, the same behavior and even the same value system. People are alway curious about those who grow up in a different background. Attending college or university is an efficient way to know more people and to make friends with them. And the friendship made in college or university is very pure and strong.



The last but not least reason is to make oneself independent.To study in college or university, one will have to learn to deal with all mass things at school by him or herself. No parents even no friends. One should learn to arrange his or her daily life, from doing washing to fix computer. One will have to conquer all fear and to interact with different people. Solving all these awful problems makes one indepent. Boys learn how to be a man and girls learn how to get rid of tears. When people get used to all things they cannot even face before, they grow up and become indepent. An indepent life is the goal many people want to achieve.



As what I said, people may hold different reasons to enter college or university, from my perspective, knowledge, friendship and indepence are the most common ones.
