Kellogg Or Wharton for Finance PhD

If you want to find a good academic job, then go to Kellogg. Wharton used to be a good place for finance phd, but right now it is a common knowledge that nobody consider it as a top program anymore.

从斯坦福到纽约大学，这个回国没法混了啊。等到这个学校再整个上海分校，就像什么诺丁汉中国分校一样，就臭了

PS: 我觉得只要老师重视学生，同样的学生去top10中的哪一个都可以的。CMU毕业的也是连续两年有去哥伦比亚沃顿的。伯克利今年一年就有两个去了top10。所以还是在学生，这就是为什么NYU的金融比kellogg强，而我不考虑他的原因。我觉得kellogg明显更prestigeous一些，然后我更喜欢Evanston。西北老师很好，做学术还是靠自己。但是wharton主要是program本身有问题，如果wharton整体不好仅仅是因为生源不如其他top学校好，我二话不说去wharton。

stern的finance确实好,不过总感觉nyu一种暴发户的气质,很难抹掉.

If your objective is to go back to China and not much involved in academic research, Wharton reputation dominates everything.

If your objective is trying to find a good placement, Kellogg dominates Wharton, especially in terms of Chinese student placement, although Zhiguo is a special case because I believe he can get a terrific job even if he were in Wharton. Michael Fishman is a terrific person and very good mentor.

Thanks above. What do you mean by Chinese student placement? Is this different with other student placement? Sorry I am not aware.

Yeah, I think you should head to Kellogg: good mentor is the most important thing in PhD's study otherwise you will suffer a lot while everyone else think you are enjoying your life.

Also, I suggest you decline your offers you are not considering now to free some space. Thank you very much!
