Do you agree or disagree the following statement:
It is more important for students to understand ideas and concepts than it is for them to learn facts

 

  I think I agree with the statement.Learning facts and understand the concept are two different parts of study,each serves their own function.But if I am asked which priors the other,I believe according to the roles they play in study,grasping concept comes first.

  I still remember when I was in the secondary school,my math teacher always emphasize the importance of digesting the concept,he kept saying:"no one can really learn math well just by remembering the problems they have ever met,you have to understand the concept." At first, I didn't believe in him and I supposed all I need to do in order to get a good score in the test is just reciting the problems in the problems set.I did as what I thought it would work,but in the end term exam,I can't even figure out one problem because none of the problmes in the test came from the problems set.Since then I began to see the importance of learning the concept.

  Things can never be learnt without the understanding of idea.If one just learn the facts but not the idea and the concept,the next time when he is in the similar situation,he won't be able to come about a solution to tackle with.Concept,is the summary of the all the relevant knowledge,it is the essence of the solution.If you want to really handle a method of solve problems,the first and foremost thing you need to do is analyse the concept,think of how the concept is gotten,what conclusion can be drawn from the concept.then you will be able to solve all the problems which belongs to that category.Let's cite the student of economy as an example.In the economy class,the professor teaches how the government solve economic crisis with the famous case of Roosevolet's adjustment in the great depression.By lively discussion and the explain of professor,student A learnt the way government adopt to deal with economy recession,student B recite all the statistics about the great depression.Which one is more likely to score higher in the case analysis in the end term examination?who is more probable to become a qualified government officer when a new economy recession take place?No doubt,student A is the one who really learnt something useful,what student B learnt is just a lot of useless number and names.But to put it more objective,learning facts is usually a effective way for one to grasp the idea and digest the concept,it's not totally useless.That's why we say learning fact is still needed in study.

  As a result,my opinion on is learning the concept is the most important part of study.learning facts may function as a complement.

                    parts of study(separate studying activities),each serves(ing) their(its) own function.But if I am asked which priors the other,I believe according to the roles they play in study,grasping concept comes first.(the writer cares too much about a complicated structure, so making the sentence choppy) (However, according to their roles in studying, a preference should be given to grasping concepts 

  (don't introduce too much I/me, otherwise the writing seems rendering an impression of egoism)(at this place we need a main sentence) I still remember when I was in the(x) secondary school,my math teacher always emphasize(d) the importance of digesting the concept,(and)he kept saying:"no one can really learn math well just by remembering the problems they have ever met, you have(he has) to understand the concept." do u agree or disagree with the statement Children should not have to work or help with household tasks;their only responsibility should be study.

I disagree with people those who think study is the only job of children's.From my point of view, Doing household tasks is also very important to the developement of children as study.I will deliever my reasons in depth in the following paragraphies.
  First and foremost,Taking part in household tasks teaches children the responsibility of a family member.People who ignore the importance of doing household works do not fully recognize this point.Children are members of their family since they were born.Just like citizens are required to pay taxes,a family member is obligatory to make his/her own contribution to their family.This is not merely having a task done,this is also a way to let children understand they have to undertake their duty which will be of crucial to their career after they step into the society.Morever,every child will be the householder in the future,what would be if they don't even know how to sweep the floor?So,the master of some household job seems to be quite meaningful.
  Apart from the reasons I stated above,Doing household works can cultivate children's skill of practice.Many children nowadays are becoming theoretist.They may talk about complicated theory like a university professor but when it turns to the real operation,They might even don't know how to start.This is not what our society want to see on the future cause jobs need to be done but not commented.Doing houseworks is a very realistic and accessible way to help children improve their practice skills.
  To draw a conclusion,I strongly recommend parents to let their children join the housework activities but not immerse in a bulk of books.

do u think cooperation is more important than the past?

I don't think it's a disputable topic that the ability to cooperate the much more important than it was in the past.On no account should people cast doubt on its importance nowadays.
  I first realize this point when I was reading a book writen by Thomas.L,Friedman.In this book,the author elucidated how cooperation has become the theme of today's world.In the past time,due to the inconvenience of transportation and the undevelopement of the information communication,each part of the earth is relatively isolated.But with the swiftly developing technology,many people are connected by the world wide web and the ameliorated transportation system.We are no longer in a situation which we used to be.Many works need to be done worldwidely.To cite the Ford car as an example.In the past,Ford is more confined the United States mainland from the raw material to the assembly line.But now,this company buyes its spare part from China,Japan,England and many different country and then assembles its cars in foreign countries.What its procedure would be if people can't cooperate well with each other?Another persuasive example comes from the world's biggest retailer,Wal-Mart.It's not a secret any longer that Wal-Mart maintain its position by cutting down its cost.Then how do they make that?They make that because they know how to harness the cheap human resources in developing countries like China,Malaysia.They have their factories built there and their products produced there,and they ship the commodities from TV to toys to America with they high efficient logistic team.Each part of this whole chain is indispensable cause if any one part don't cooperate with the others,the whole chain will have problems.This was impossible in a century ago when messages and goods took months traveled across the continent.However,Thanks to the development of technology and the spirit of cooperation,American families can buy goods made in china,the whole world is united as a entity.
  To draw a conclusion,I strongly agree with the statement cooperation is more important than the past.

In my point of view,people should make decisions themselves.Counting on others is not a adoptable way.
  The main reason why people should make their decisions by their own is that this is the only way to assure that they will not regret after failure.Sometimes,listen to the opinions from experts is a good idea to come up with a solution,but experts’ opinions should be just reference,their opinions can help you to consider the problem from different angles and more integeratedly.But after synchronizing varieties of opinions,he/she has to decide by his/her own.Only by this way will one be regretedless afterward.
  Another reason why people shouldn’t count on others is that making decisions oneself can help one to learn the spirit of independence.We can not always keep the thoughts that why not rely on someone more experienced.If we want to be experienced,we have to go through it ourselves.Without failure,one can never be mature.Failure is nothing worth to be frightened,every failure is a precious lesson,we can know where is our weaknesses,how to improve it.Thus we can make the right decison someday when expertise is no longer available.
  The third reason is that we should trust ourselves.Dare to venture is a very important quality to succeed.Others’ decisions are not always right,we could miss a valuable opportunity if we don’t decide by ourself.A famous example is Bill.Gates.When Bill was in Harvard as a undergraduate,he accurately foreseed the fact the computer will dominate the world,so he quitted from Harvard with determination to build up his software empire.At that time,many of his classmates and teachers persuaded him not to do so,they didn’t think he could succeeded at that time when PC is just at its starting phase.As a result,Bill established Microsoft and become the richest man in the world.Let’s imagine what will happen if Bill followed his teachers’ advice?He might be no more than a normal software engineer in a small company who earned thousands dollars per month which is about the amount he earns in a minute now.

107 Some people believe that a college or university education should be available to all students. Others believe that higher education should be available only to good students. Discuss these views. Which view do you agree with? Explain why.

Principlly,I think high education should be available to all students regardless whether perform well on their study or not.However,due to our present level of economy,same opportunities to all students seems to be unrealistic.So,according to the real capacity of the national economy and they results of education,I think high educationn opprtunities should be offered to good students.
  Different people have the different IQ level,and also their attitude toward study differ a lot.Because of this,the same education to two different men may receive two outcomes.Student who is more intelligent and more eager for knowledge might understand the professor better and more likely to creat value to the society with what he or she has learnt.Student who has a a relatively less interests in study tend to get less from education and make less contribution.Our education resources is not infinite,in some developing countries it could even be very scarce,with such a limited resouces,how to get most from it is become quite important to many countrie.Therefore,we should try our best to let those most prospective students to occupy these precious resources but not spend it on those who do not hunger and value the opportunities.
 What's more,many bad students in the college not only spend litttle time on their academic work but also bring a lot of negative influence to their campus.They race cars in campus,hold noisy party in their apartment until mid-night,abuse drugs and so on.Their activities of on doubt severely disturb the academic atmosphere in campus.From this angle,they shouldn't be admitted to the colleges
  To sum up my opinion.What I want to deliver is that high education opportunities should only be provided to good students but not everyone.

Our society is experiencing a swift change which had never happend before.From my perspective,I think
we are enjoying  a much better living condition,taking advantages of the developed technology,living a
more colorful life.My point can be examined from the following angles.
  The improvement of internet technology offer us lots of imformation which help us to adopt the optimum
solution with the least cost.For instance,about one hundreds years ago,if one wanted to mail a letter to his
relative who liveed in another continent,he would have to find if someone was going there and ask  the man to
do a favor,the possibility of the letter failing to reach the receiver is very big due to many uncertain
factors.But if that man lived in today's internet era,all he need to do is just press the buttoms on his mouse
and then the letter can be checked by his relative within few seconds or he can choose to contact with his rellativewith IM software.Anyway,whatever he does,he can save many efforts under the help of internet.
  Another aspect of enhance on living conditon is that we have much better infrastructure.For example,at the our parents' time,there wasn't developed transportaion system.Cars had to drive on muddy road with a violantly vibration.However,thanks to the modern high way system,we can drive on flat road with a spped of more than one hundred mile per hour while feeling no discomfort.Isn't this a great improvement that facilitate our life to a large scale? There are also many more evidence to prove that we are now leading a better life than our parents.To illustrate we can enjoy the vivid effect of Hollywood movies,we are able to purchase many products shipped from countries like China,Philipine with a very low price and so on.All of these mark the progress of living standard.
 To sum up my opinions,I would like to use a sentence which my father always told me:son,you are living in a much better era that we couldn't imagine decades age.cherish it!
