70. 大家申请Essay中的问题
目标假大空
我觉得很多工作后的申请人看行业未来的发展都非常准（Vision），往往他们根据自己的意愿+未来行业发展的趋势，写出了一个非常远大的目标规划。“比如我是做会计的，但是看到医疗互联网在中国未来的黄金趋势，规划里就写我去做医疗互联网了” 。虽然可能随便大学本科生，在黄金期都能做医疗互联网成功（猪在风口上能飞）。。。

但是这么写的话，就会给ao看出来：
a. 对这个行业的理解不深刻；因为你可能只是参加几个讲座，或者学过一些相关基础课程。
b. 这个发展方向并不适合你，你也不一定能做的做好，你对自己的定位不准确。。。。而且你的networking能力可能也会有问题。。。

我之前在我的职业规划文章中，有提到过做职业规划的逻辑分别是以下几步骤：
1. 符合逻辑
虽然这看起来很基本，但是看到的不make sense的career goal实在不在少数。中国的申请者，比较谦虚，不会有不着边际的career goal。但是，例如，有些applicants的work experience里全是某某industry的经验，最后却说想从事NGO相关的工作。可能NGO真是他的goal，可能他申请的学校在NGO上是最出色的。好的规划需要合情合理，符合发展规律，从过去到现在到未来，逻辑线要理清楚。如果要选择不同的专业，则要从自身出发；
2. 站在行业领军的角度上看问题：
提现出Vision：站在行业的Leader角度看问题.如果你是马化腾，你将如何改变互联网行业？如果你是巩俐，你将如何改变电影业. 在和你身边的朋友和实习工作的朋友交流后；你知道了自身适合做什么，这个行业的问题准备怎么做；那就写出你的方案来吧；你要去帮助这个行业解决实际的问题；他们能帮你达到什么样宏伟的目标；
3. Be Specific
在描写Career Goal的时候一定要specific，即便是long term goal。要让Adcom的人通过你对Career Goal的描述能够Picture出来你5年10年后的样子。这样Adcom的人才知道你的理想不是梦，你对待你的Career和商学院的这个事情上是非常serious的。

举个例子啊。比如这样一句话：My long-term goal is to build and operate the nation’s leading company in professional information services. 看到这样一句话，你明白他想build的公司是什么吗？这个公司怎么leading法吗？他要怎么operate吗？所以，Adcom的人看到这样的Career Goal其实还是完全不知道这个申请者到底要干什么。
4.“我们”真的是你要找的Business School
最后一点关于Career Goal的是在写的时候要考虑下与Why School的关联。各个学校有各个学校的特色。到一个financial-oriented的学校非要去做NGO也不是不可以，可是这是图什么呢？所以，在写Career Goal的时候，还是要考虑学校的特色的。不能太以自己为中心了。

虚假信息
里我经常喜欢跟群里的大家说，不要把自己的申请文章拿给今年申请的小伙伴改，或者不要帮忙小伙伴的文章。因为这里主要有两个问题：
1. 你的故事经历可能被别人抄袭
别人不一定会抄你的cg。虽然我也知道有无脑申请者把别人写的好的职业规划也抄走了。但是故事和一些你是如何体现自己领导力和特殊性的，也会被其他人抄袭的。
2. 你的语言，句式或者文笔风格可能有问题
这里我也不建议大家去找别人过渡的修改文书写作风格。因为厉害一点的招生官一眼就能看出来，这篇文章是不是你写的了（元元可以看出来，我相信招生官肯定比我更厉害）。
语言文字这块最重要的是
a. 语言文字通顺,表达直接
b. 故事衔接通顺流畅 （不只是用连词哦）
c. 词汇丰富句式多样

如果你的故事描写很糟糕但句式很漂亮，这是有问题的。如果用词很丰富，但表达不直接，这样同样让人不理解。什么时候用修饰，什么时候平铺直述。这都是有讲究的。。你的经历，语言写作分数，gmat写作分数是否达标这同样也能从侧面了解你的语言写作表达水平。

所以，我认为大家如果找native speaker来改文章的话。最主要的是语言文字通顺，传神。故事衔接流畅通顺。。。。故事描写的生动。
3. 有些人会编背景
适当合理的吹牛逼，是可以的。fake一段工作或者社会经历是可以达到加强自身背景的。但还会有两个问题：
1）如果别人面试问你，就大概知道你的水平有多少了。一旦发现这段经历是假的。。。那么就。。。。
2）同样合理的编，如果别人认为你的经历+能力是不能做那个位置的。那么同样game over了。

最后，而且就算你可能会被一个不错的大学录取甚至获得全奖，但是到校一学期后真实情况就会显现出来。那么学校对这样的情况惩罚很严厉。美国大学教授希望通过申请文书了解真实的你，而不是一个编造的虚假人物。因此我们要本着诚实的态度去写文章。回归实际，以强有力的客观依据让学校认识到你的实力。

长篇大论，拖沓冗长
我看过大多数大陆背景申请人写的文章，思绪一打开就收不住，写完就超过1500字了。要知道，在招生官审核材料的最忙碌的阶段，过长的文章是没有人愿意也没有时间耐心读下去的。

总起一下吧：每篇essay的每句话和简历里面的每个点都有作用。
一份清晰简洁的简历：别人可以知道你的职业规划和马上了解你的特殊性和能力。
一份清晰简洁的Essay：别人会越读越有意思。
1）不过多的重复之前提起的
2）在文中的作用和你的目的是啥。（比如：你写我校园单词拼写大奖赛第一名。。。能给招生官有什么认识，能体现你哪方面的能力）（比如你写essay里的每段经历，那么给你的思考在那里）
3）表达简洁。。。更多的应该是这经历教会了我什么。。

比如之前看过一篇申请斯坦福的文章。他通篇都在说，我认识你们的校友A，B，C。我跟她们工作之后，对斯坦福的精神感触颇深。（但是他并没有说清楚。斯坦福怎么影响他的）又有在essay里不停重复申请简历中那些已知信息和句子。。。

1.对于简历：
1）不要进行过多的工作描述
更多的展示你具体做的这些achievement是啥。然后每一段经历下的每一个点，突出什么。
比如第一段经历突出：
1）对行业的认识，比如做了什么研究。 2）沟通能力：跟什么部门合作。3）领导项目环节中的一个点。  
到了第二份工作 很有可能就是把第一份工作的深度加强。
1）从认识而是直接改变 2）领导整个项目 3）直接沟通部门从公司扩大到整个行业上。

还有你写每一点的时候想好这一点对你商学院申请帮助的作用是啥。。是否有影响力。。

我写简历的时候，会想好每段经历，每点的作用不同，然后从时间顺序，每段经历突出的侧重点也不同。像在讲故事。。。。我这么来说吧。1个招生官看一个申请者的简历。。。大概就知道他的职业规划是什么了。

2. 对于Essay：
我之前在同质化文章中有提起过essay要重点突出你的思考。

Essay跟简历是相通的。。。
1）你的essay逻辑是关联的。每一个故事衔接是紧密的（围绕一个中心和职业规划）
2）每一个故事是否衔接紧密。。。如果把这句话去掉后文章意思变了么。。。变了，这句话保留。。。没有去掉。。。
3）多用句式把关系联系起来。。。
4）不要重复简历的话，而是essay里的每一句话。为啥能让你最后倒入到想去读书的目的。
