DescriptionA PhD student position is available at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Mississippi State University (starting Spring 2013 or Summer 2013). The candidate must have a strong background in CFD, be familiar with turbulence simulations, and be highly motivated. A prior Master of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or closely related fields is required. The successful candidate will be involved in fluid dynamics research and code development (mostly in fortran 90/2003); familiarity with parallelization, linux environment, and clusters is a plus (showing interest to learn is also encouraged); he/she must also be familiar with (or be eager to learn) postprocessing/plotting packages (e.g., matlab, tecplot, paraview, vapor,...). The prospective student may have the opportunity to work at MSU HPCC (http://www.hpc.msstate.edu), one of the largest university-owned computing centers.
