You are planning to study abroad. What do you think you will like and dislike about this experience? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.  

In recent China, overseas study has become a beautiful dream of millions of youngsters and their parents. Like them, I am still in close preparation for overseas studies. While, in spite of the over optimistic hope, I also seriously consider the factors which I expect and dislike.

 

Undoubtedly, studying abroad has a great attraction to me. In the first place, there are plenty of advanced knowledge I am interested in. My favorite country for overseas study, the United States, as the best developed country in the world, is full of many world famous universities and institutions and attracts numerous top scientists and experts. Such universities as Harvard, Yale always appear on the top of ranking list whenever there is a survey about the popularity of world universities.  I dream to be admitted into a university like these and study my favorite major, the accounting. Furthermore, the charm of foreign culture is also another attraction of overseas study. I strongly hope to experience the life of a cowboy in the western America.

 

However, I am also worried about some unfavorable conditions which I will definitely meet when I study in a foreign country. The first thing is loneliness. Flying away from my familiar places and friends, I must independently face any challenge I meet. And it is a quite terrible challenge for a young boy without the care of parents, the comfort and company of intimate friends, and the familiar living conditions. Secondly, I also need to face ethic discriminations from some native speakers, although such discriminations always derive from the innate refuse to outside strangers or from some misunderstandings between western and eastern people. Finally, the high living cost is also a unfavorable condition for me. Besides the high tuition, the prices of daily necessities are usually several times higher than those of China. I think I have to do some part time job to make ends meet.

 

To sum up, oversea study does not only mean comfortable life, but also some unfavorable experiences which some people never think over. However, I still dream the life of overseas studies, because in my view, the yields will far outweigh such terrible experiences.
