请问美国学校有哪些优势呢？

2023fall申请，om方向，现在接到了hkust的offer。另外收到了一些美国学校的面试，或许也能拿到一个offer，大概purdue, UFL, UTD这个级别，单论学校应该和hkust差不多。经常能听到“美国是学术中心”的说法，但是并不了解这样的优势具体体现在何处，还希望论坛各位大大能解答一二。

期刊编辑多呗，话语权大，当然之所以别人顶刊编辑多、顶刊多，根本原因在于研究开展得早，我们还在清朝，别人都有股市了

不看学生placement，只看学校地域的全是耍流氓。

我自己感觉最大的区别，可能是顶刊的“问题意识”，还是非常US-centric。这个在偏技术的field不是很明显，但是越substantive的field越突出。

This is a great question although it is too big to ask. Simply put, for those in the quantitative or technical fields, such as OM, the geographical advantages of being affiliated with an American institution are less than clearly felt. In contrast, for those in the more culture-centric fields, such as organizational behavior, such advantages are obvious and substantial.

America may be still the nexus of academic research in the world, Europe and Asia are increasingly becoming research powerhouses.

Yes, a major concern of applicants is about the programs' placements. In deciding whether to accept an offer, though, its geographical location can be a critical factor to take into consideration.

我并不觉得美国一些排名稍后的学校做的研究课题很有趣，反而是一些国内和香港的老师做的话题很新颖，紧跟时代。

港新几强进头部985应该很多吧
美国三档进头部985还是比较难的，世界排名太吃亏了

楼主毕业之后想在哪里教职呀？你在这三个us学校毕业place回香港是有可能的，但是从香港毕业place去us就比较难了。
