7 Often Patients with ankle fractures that are stable, and thus do not require surgery, are given follow-up x-rays because their orthopedists are concerned about possibly having misjudged the stability of the fracture. When a number of follow-up X-rays were reviewed, however, all the fractures that had initially been judged stable were found to have healed correctly. Moreover, there follow-up X-rays of patients of many different orthopedists working in several hospitals were reviewed. Therefore, it is a waste of money to order follow-up X-ras of ankle fracture initially judged stable.
In the argument given, the two boldfaced portions play which of the following roles?
A The first is a position that argument disputes, the second is another claim that has been used to support a conclusion that the argument accepts.
B The first is a conclusion that the argument as a whole opposes; the second is the main position of the argument.
C The first is a conclusion that the argument as a whole opposes; the second provides support to that conclusion.
D The first is a finding whose correctness is at issue in the argument; the second is an assumption that the final conclusion of the argument bases on.
E The first is a finding whose accuracy is evaluated in the argument; the second is evidence presented to establish that finding is not accurate.
正确答案是D, 我选的是E
我的理由是 the second boldface 是evidence,而不是assumption. assumption应该是是个原理或定理的东西,而不是具体事情。
