Subject: A Complaint of Your Good School

Yes. This is a formal complaint to your Shanghai info session today.

This is about one black female's arrogance and disrespect towards prospect applicants.

I went to your website three days ago and found the session was closed for registration. OK, fine. Kellogg is hot.

Every school that has held info session in Shanghai said their seats were limited, but the info session would still be open to non-registrants who showed up on the day. Additional chairs will be served by the staff of the restaurant. There would be guys standing, if the room is completely filled.

So my friend told me "this time they will also let us in, no problem". Well, nobody expected that your room was only half of CBS' in the same restaurant the other day.

The female who looked like your staff shouted loudly, ""EVERYONE WHO HAS NOT REGISTERED TODAY, PLEASE DON'T QUEUE HERE AND WAIT ASIDE!!!" It's fair to give registered ones priority. Fine.

When the registration finished, she stood up, and got inside after saying "I'll come out in a short minute.” Fine as well. We wait.

Then she came out and said VERY UNFRIENDLY, “EVERYONE PLEASE BACK OFF!! JUST BACK OFF!!! “ She walked back to the reception table and sat down, saying, still rudely, "EVERYONE HERE PLEASE EXIT. SORRY WE HAVE NO EXTRA SEATS IN THE ROOM! I AM NOT TAKING ANY QUESTIONS!!! PLEASE EXIT!!"

Wow. You are the boss. You are awesome. Have you confirmed that all registered guys are here? This is unbelievable. Your school wants your staff not only to think bravely but also speak bravely.

I am sorry that I also had to do the same. "Hey, this is not friendly. Other schools didn't work this way, you should put more chairs......"

"NO, blablabla....." She obviously didn’t listen.

Fine, I had to do it again. "WHAT'S YOUR NAME???"

"XXX XXwell!!! You are welcome! Bye bye!" Woohoo. Did I thank her?

So it seems she has been well prepared for this letter.

I don't quite understand so I am copying your dean here. You are gonna tell us that your alumnus are ready to help others? have team-work spirits? a close-knit learning enviornment? Oh, maybe you REALLY DONT CARE ABOUT China, right? Among all the other schools - Duke, Tuck, Booth, CBS, MIT....you are UNIQUE. You are higher ranked than them. You have a best marketing program that couldn't tell you how many guys attended sessions of your peers. Great. Your AOs are representing an OUTSTANDING school to all of us.

Oh, yes, BTW, I wanted to have some snacks when waiting, and I was told by one guy that I could only eat "during the scheduled period". Hilarious. I believe you do have a tight budget that limited your room size and biscuits number, and your staff are very anxious about that.

投诉可以，但这信写得太没水准了。你把自己摆在一个也很低的层面上。
要用恰当的表达方式去达到一个目的。这也是我们top program里学生要努力修的一门课。

女侠风范，值得尊敬。建议申一下kellogg，把这段写在补充essay里，也算给他们个机会。要是面试的时候再碰到此black lady，建议更加深入的探讨一下，说不定她会跟你说sorry，矛盾就解决了。kellogg你是牛B，但也不能这么个Diao样。

楼主很棒！楼上有人说楼主表达方式不妥，我觉得很多时候 assertive and aggressive只差一点点，练得多了就assertive了，呵呵。关键是态度，觉得对方不对就应该说出来，这个我们一般太hold back了。

关于这个black lady的问题，让我想起来以前经历过的。我读书的时候帮系里的一个秘书组织一个大型的international conference，我们秘书是一个特别负责任特别愿意帮助人的人，可是她最大的问题就是容易stress out..那次她就是太累了吧，大概早上3点就过来了，然后又忙又紧张，最后在registration的地方对人家发脾气~~人家都是花了注册费来的呢~ 我就一直跟在她后面跟别人道歉解释，还好很多人都可以接受。我不知道有没有人后来回去complain，我觉得complain也是没办法的，她确实是不够professional。她平时也是个做事最多对学生很认真但是说话很直的人，这种人在职场特别吃亏。我毕业的时候她是senior officer, 几年之后回去她手下的都升到managing officer了她还是那个位子。

我说这个不是为这个black lady辩解，只是我看后来有人跟贴说这个black lady后来还挺热情的，可能刚开始是有点stress out了。只能说女人（包括我自己）有时候是比较容易emotional，要多注意自我调整。
