【请进！真心求定位!】准备申请2014美国TOP 16MBA

我的目标是今年申请2014年入学，美国TOP 16。请大家帮忙看看我的情况机会有多大，欢迎各种建议，还有轻拍！
先从我的个人简历说起：

教育：国内重点本科，专业管理类，和美国一大学合作办学的专业，GPA2.7 （N种算法，选的最低的，如果你清楚北美BSCHOOL的计算方法，请指点。）
工作：六年，工作地点均为上海
1年  美资零售企业，全球采购专员，global sourcing
1.5年 德资制造企业，全球采购专员，global sourcing
1.5年 美资零售企业，全球采购专员，global sourcing
2年 美资FMCG TOP1 ，新产品项目经理

职业规划：
通过MBA转General Management或者consulting （supply chain/project mgt ）
IB/VC/PE 也很感兴趣，有机会当然考虑，但是申请package里一定会用上面的规划，听上去一定不会 成为学校就业包袱。：）

申请package：
GT 未考，信心目标G730 T110
简历如上，
推荐信：前经理（美国人）现任经理（Asia Director）

Hey!
So first of all I just want to clear up one small point. Although getting a higher GMAT for SURE helps and helps prove the Adcom that you have great academic capabilities it does NOT "make up" for your GPA… and even an 800 on the GMAT doesn't raise your GPA. What is DOES do is show that you are smart, that you worked harder, and that you can succeed at business school.

If Top 16 schools are the ONLY ones that you would leave China for, then that's okay too! It WILL be a bit of a challenge, but there's no point in applying to schools if you will not go to them after! So your strategy is "Top school or bust" which is great if it fits your needs. The BEST way for you to compensate for such a tough strategy is to apply to MORE schools. So whereas most people will apply to 4-5 schools, I'd suggest you apply to at least 7-8 to increase your chances of getting in.

For your goals, I think both GM and Consulting can be good. And if fact anything in which you can show you have some experience can be good for you.. you just don't want to choose something that is totally disconnected from your past.

Hey Jon,

I appreciate your pertinent comments.
GPA: can you help share me the formula that most NA bschool use to calculate GPA? Anyway, as you said, I definitely need to get a higher GMAT score to compensate the GPA.

Target school: Top 16 MBA school admission is the only enabler that can help me make up my mind to leave for US to get MBA degree.

Career: Besides general management, any other great suggestion for my post MBA career?

Hey there and thanks for dropping by,
Well your big negative in your profile is your GPA.. which is a bit low for top 15 programs. You can for sure make up for some of it by getting an amazing GMAT score, and that will help you a lot. Your work experience seems very good, with you steadily moving to more and more impressive positions. So that's great. I think you can expand your range of schools from "Top 16" to "Top 25" (which is also excellent) and with a 730, I think you can do quite well!

For your goals, I would strongly urge you to forget about the IB/VC/PE goals. Everyone wants those jobs, and if you don't have experience before, it\s not likely you will get them.. so General Management is the way to go for you, I think.
