考过了两个精算考试：P, FM
有学校精算教授、统计教授、数学系院长推荐信
不到一年工作经验
无学术论文


求求大家介绍介绍经验，帮我定位一下

This analogy makes good sense. The profs, or "investors", are indeed risk averse in the admissions game. However, let's not keep jumping on her. Her profile is actually not that bad. To my knowledge, the graduate IT program at SUNY Albany is ranked among the top 10 in the US. That provides assurance of the quality of its undergraduate IT program. Also, an undergrad gpa of 3.5 or so is commendable.
Since her goal is a top school, it would work in her favor to go for a master's and have a research agenda going by the time she applies. Also, it is necessary to rewrite the gmat, as the current score won't get her anywhere.

阅读你的resume (background) 的人做的事情是，通过你的record infer 你的智商、综合能力和potential, 就像investors 通过阅读公司的财务报表来infer这个公司未来的赚钱能力一样。如果公司是因为某些原因被distress掉，这些原因又刚好能被address, 慧眼识珠的投资者就会买入这个公司，否则必然是被投资者抛弃。

在申请当中，教授就扮演者投资者的角色。客观说一句，LZ的background如果不是因为被distress掉的话，真的很普通，academic并不好混，建议放弃。

但是如果确实有原因导致你被undervalued, 那么未来你就应该address这个原因，提升你的performance，然后把这些进步在申请中show出来，convince别人你是有潜力的。

太不厚道了 我觉得LZ背景不错啊！美本双学位，GPA也还好啊，GMAT有点低也是可以刷高的啊。何苦这么打击人家

努力提高GMAT 和其他能提高的。然后你要做的就是等到申请那天，提交你的申请，其他的让stern的老师去决定吧。你想中奖的话总的先买张彩票吧。

NYU的Finance PhD的GMAT至少730以上，中国人没个750还敢申？本科出身很一般，我觉得洗洗睡吧

我想上面学长说的核心期刊是 top4吧。应该有很大用处 ，但是发出来几乎不可能。

gre的sub没啥用处。“核心期刊”更没有啥用处。比较现实的路是想办法到个有名的地方做一两年RA，攒点资历和推荐信，兴许还能有一两篇working paper。
