quant requires "extreme high level" quantitative background For example, our quant team in shanghai has 2 Cambrige PHDs, major in stat and EE, one Cambrige post doc major in 量子计算 They are currenting interviewing people, but among thoes candidates, only two master degree holder get telephone called: one has 10+ experience in SG and is top student in Uchicago FM program, another seems from Colunmbia's FE (same undergraduate major in PKU like my boss, but her interview is....well..not very impressive) To be honest, i work in quant team for 4 month, normal FE people (like me) can handle the junior role but they just want the guy who is so...smart and excellet in math.... FE is not a bad chioce, but PHD is much better...But I really don't think MIS will run the bell... -- by 会员 AnttiZhang (2012/8/12 22:07:43)
really informative. thx I just wonder the situation of quants outside the quant research group, like the desk quants in s&t. Is a PhD degree still a must? |
