(draw a diagram: each hormone has multiple downstream effects; therefore, if one hormone level is up, the downstream pathways associated with this particular hormone are simultaneously activated.)

I think you mistake "simultaneous" for "interdependent". These two meanings are totally different.

阅读大全PASSAGE 24，前几天刚做的，翻了一下，个人觉得你纠结的点在对simultaneous的理解上，它讲的并不是它们对同一个事物向同一个方向联合在一起共同起作用。这个同时作用并没有说非要绑在一起缺一不可的发挥作用，Auxin例子说的正是five的作用的复杂性，对于artificial没有什么研究得价值，与B选项相关；C选项与问题不太相关，从文中并不能推出" function是否without others" 与" five hormones是否useful" 有因果关系,有点儿跑题。你讲的so...that 强调的是so many ... that中的many，而不是simultaneous.

不知道LZ同学有没有看prep07，建议多看看上面答案的解释，然后你再回头来做这道题我相信你就不会如此纠结了。
我不是NN，说了一堆不知道是否讲明白了，正确与否仅供讨论参考吧。

那么也就是说，后面的效果是由于前面的问题导致的~
那么原因自然就应该“simultaneous effects ”的我以为~
