issue110 Critical judgment of work in any given field has littlevalue unless it comes from someone who is an expert in that field.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to whichyou agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting yourposition, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples thatcould be used to challenge your position. Should critical judgment from someoneworking out of a certain field be valued or adopted? The answer to such aquestion cannot be put straightforward because an issue like this involves somany factors that impact of each side should be taken into account. As far as Iam concerned, I admit that criticism from experts is usually more constructive, but judgments from others can also be important factors promoting theadvancement of this field. Admittedly, experts in a certain field isthe authority of this domain. No one could deny that experts always devotetheir whole lives to a certain field of study and thus have a much morecomprehensive and deeper understanding of the knowledge of certain issue thanaverage people. For example, no individual who taking other occupations couldcome up with a better remedy for cancers than experts in such field. Besides, average people are inclined to accept what experts says about their domaininstead of what said by a layman. Therefore, it is reasonable to claim thatopinions from experts in most cases make more sense. However, by no means could we turn blind tothe voice beyond a given field. There are two reasons to support this claim.Firstly, even though experts might be the most capable people in their field ofstudy, it doesn't necessarily mean they make no mistake. Aristotle might be oneof the best examples to illustrate this. Respected by almost people at his ageand even deified by them, he still made a fallacy, namely the heavier objectfalls faster than lighter one. Challenge from someone not experts in adiscipline might not totally correct, but it at least serve as a siren callingthe attention to the issue. The further study following the focus might findthe truth. from this perspective, critical judgment from without does have itsvalue. The another reason behind my claim is thatthe functions of different disciplines are so intertwined that even an individual out of a certain field might providemeaningful judgment. For instance, socialistsalone are not sufficient to tackle all the problems existing in our societies.More often than not, they would turn to psychologists for help. The stabilityof a family usually has an intimaterelation with the mental condition of themembers of this family. Another example is that new-issued movies alwaysreceive criticism not only from the moviecritics. The advisers or opponents consist ofthe audiences, historians if the subject of the movie is about a historic event, and so forth. Are they experts in movie making? Of course not, while they dogive valuable advices to these movie makers, which even promote the prosperity of movie market. In sum, on one hand, the statementcorrectly lays stress on the important role of experts play in their owndomain. On the other hand, it overlooks the equally significant influencesthese non-experts has on the development of a certain field. As a matter offact, to judge whether an opinion makes sense ornot, the key point is not where it comes from, but whether it grasp the gist of the certainissue.
