After the airline industry began requiring airlines to report their on-time rates, Speedee Airlines achieved the number one on-time rate, with over89 percent of its flights arriving on time each month. And now Speedee isoffering more flights to more destinations than ever before. Clearly, Speedeeis the best choice for today’s business traveler.

In this argument, the arguer claims that business travelers shouldconsider the Speedee Airlines to be the best just because Speedee's on-timerate ranks first as it reports. In addition, to support the claim, the argueralso says that Speedee is providing more flights to more destinations for thetravelers than ever before. At first glance, the argument seems to bereasonable, but it indeed has 2 main flawed aspects.

First of all, the arguer says that Speedee has over 89 percent of itsflight arrived on time each month. However, the report does not have the strongevidences to support the solidity of the figure. That is to say, the numberthat the Speedee published does not necessarily reveal the truth. For instance,if the Speedee Airlines has the smallest number of flights, the number 89percent on-time rate cannot prove that it is the best. What's more, regardlessof the 89 percent, if the rest 11 percent flights are on average delayed forthe longest time than any other airlines, it also cannot prove that it is thebest. So from the Speedee's report, we can never reach the conclusion that theSpeedee is the best.

Even though the report is convincing, the arguer also advocates that with more flights to more destinations, the Speedee is absolutely the best choicefor business travelers. Nevertheless, the arguer commits a fallacy of allthings are equal. Although the on-time rate of the Speedee was ranking first asit reported before, it does not mean that its on-time rate will still stay inthe first. In other word, other air companies can promote their function systemin order that their rate of arriving on time can be raised. Or the rate ofSpeedee may drop due to some other obstacles. Further more, we cannot reach theclaim that the Speedee is the best choice just basing on the reasoning above,since the standard of the best airline is not just the on-time rate, on thecontrary, it should also include the quality of the services, the comfort ofthe flights, the customers' preferences and the rest. If so, then the stabilityof the summary by the arguer is highly suspected.

To sum up, the arguer fails to make his claim persuasive thus making itunwarranted. In order to strengthen the argumentation, the arguer should haveevidences concerning other advantages of Speedee against its competitors suchas the services and the other factors attributing to its reputation as the bestairlines than any others.
