潜水多年终于轮到我出来求chance了.请大家建议.

废话不说先上背景.

本人目前美本 junior.


本科第一年南京的211专业是MIS. 不喜欢国内本科教育就考了T跑到了美国.


美本top50学校finance major. GPA不是很高3.7 (不过还有三个学期可以给我刷. 到时候争取3.8)


T是当时出国时考的现在过期了. 不过很多学校不要求所以也不准备再考了.


G是前两天考的. 贪玩准备不是很充分一战700+5. 不准备再考, 觉得应该OK.



实在是不想花家里的钱. 所以希望继续求学的路上能有tuition waive.


本来目标是直接PHD(因为本人的目标比较奇葩.不像很多其他finance的同学向往大城市金融街, 我比较向往能在一个比较恬静的环境里教教书,玩玩音乐), 但是逛了很久的论坛发现好像不是很现实. 所以希望看看有没有不要钱读finance master的先例. (当然如果能直接PHD的话就最好)


求介绍, 在这里先谢谢大家.

个人意见：如果要读finance的phd最好不要考虑professional finance的MS。MS/MA in econ，math，stat，EE之类的都比finance好。

Try phd (finance will be very hard, econ easier, but statistics much easiers)

Do not only focus on your GPA. GPA is not important for PhD because it reflects more on intelligence and diligence rather than on your research ability. Write brilliant essays and get published. It's not preferred, but necessary if you want to get a PhD. Try to get a strong recommendation from the professor you work with, so as to prove your strong academic ability.

Neither MSF nor MFE are good programs for pursuing PhD. A few programs I know that are easy for you to get a further degree in phd are:

Columbia Business School: Master of financial economics
Oxford U: MSc in financial economics
Cambridge U: Mphil Finance
And a few master of economics program...

It's not wise to apply for MSF for you. Many more people want to go to wall street than work for an academy.
You are in a less competitive zone, (though comparatively), don't put yourself to a more competitive one, especially if u don't like such life.

但是其实本人的选择已经很窄了. 基本上没有在考虑除了德州, 波士顿, florida, alabama. 这四个地儿以外的地方.

一个真正有学术热情的人是不会care location什么的。而且，我绝对不建议你划得那么窄，phd in finance每年一个学校都是3-5个，top50的话，就算每个学校都有金融也就100个position给你，你觉得是什么竞争……MIT的MSF都收一百二呢，你还说只去4个州。。。

所以楼主才说在这样的情况下在想去的地方念PHD很困难啊.


此外作为一个每天打NBA 2K 以及MW3 的人, 楼主绝对不是纯粹的学术人 (所以楼主才会care location)...楼主只是觉得教书会很有趣而已. 然后一想到要念很久的书就觉得说去一个自己enjoy的地方会好很多.

除了不定期的风暴以外气候很好. football很好很爽. 个人特别喜欢之前的mark ingram 和现在的 trent richardson. 所以比较喜欢alabama. 此外就是校园很美. 然后alabama人超级nice. 再之外就是楼主本人很喜欢南部口音...
