By competing with rodents for seeds, black ants help control rodent populations that pose a public health risk.
However, a very aggressive species of black ant, the Loma ant, which has recently invaded a certain region, has
a venomous sting that is often fatal to humans. Therefore, the planned introduction into that region of ant flies,
which prey on Loma ants, would benefit public health.

Which of the following, if true, most strengthens the arguments?

A. Ant flies do not attack black ants other than Loma ants.
E. The use of pesticides to control Loma ants could have harmful effects on the enviroment.
the planned introduction into that region of ant flies就会捕食L,所以有益,所以,很明显这个无关

Some species of Arctic birds are threatened by recent sharp increases in the population of snow geese,
which breed in the Arctic and are displacing birds of less vigorous species.  Although snow geese are a
popular quarry for hunters in the southern regions where they winter, the hunting season ends if and
when hunting has reduced the population by five percent, according to official estimates.  Clearly,
dropping this restriction would allow the other species to recover.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously undermines the argument?

A.    Hunting limits for snow geese were imposed many years ago
in response to a sharp decline in the population of snow geese.
B.    It has been many years since the restriction led to the hunting season
for snow geese being closed earlier than the scheduled date.
C.    The number of snow geese taken by hunters each year has grown every year for several years.
D.    As their population has increased, snow geese have recolonized wintering grounds that they had not used for several seasons.
E.    In the snow goose’s winter habitats, the goose faces no significant natural predation.

GWD1-Q13:
In the United States, of the people who moved from one state to another when they retired, the percentage who retired to Florida has decreased by three percentage points over the past ten years.  Since many local businesses in Florida cater to retirees, this decline is likely to have a noticeably negative economic effect on these businesses.
Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the argument?

A.Florida attracts more people who move from one state to another when they retire than does any other state.
B.The number of people who move out of Florida to accept employment in other states has increased over the past ten yea无关rs.
C.There are far more local businesses in Florida that cater to tourists than there are local businesses that cater to retirees无关
D.The total number of people who retired and moved to another state for their retirement has increased significantly over th
e past ten years.  难道说local  business 的生意在another  state也有做?
E.The number of people who left Florida when they retired to live in another state was greater last year than it was ten years ago.

A recent article stated that only 5.5% of American colleges grant the majority of their degrees in the liberal arts.
Citing this, a reader wrote to lament that this was further evidence of the decline of academic rigor in American
post high school education.

Which of the following is an assumption on the part of the reader?--答案C。 5%,所以读者就认为未来the decline of academic rigor in American post high school education.

A.The percentage of American colleges granting liberal arts degrees would continue to drop.
B.All colleges should grant the majority of their degrees in the liberal arts.
C.Most postsecondary scientific, engineering, and vocational training does not involve as
much academic rigor as liberal arts training.
      D. Academic rigor is the most important aspect of post high school education.
E.Of the colleges that do not grant the majority of their degrees in the liberal arts,
many granted fewer than a quarter of their degrees in the liberal arts.

prep07 CR2 48.    (33231-!-item-!-188;#058&007563)

Certain messenger molecules fight damage to the lungs from noxious air by telling the muscle cells encircling the lungs' airways to contract.  This partially seals off the lungs.  An asthma attack occurs when the messenger molecules are activated unnecessarily, in response to harmless things like pollen or household dust.

Which of the following, if true, points to the most serious flaw of a plan to develop a medication that would prevent asthma attacks by blocking receipt of any messages sent by the messenger molecules referred to above?

(A) Researchers do not yet know how the body produces the messenger molecules that trigger asthma attacks.
(B) Researchers do not yet know what makes one person's messenger molecules more easily activated than another's.
(C) Such a medication would not become available for several years, because of long lead times in both development and manufacture.
(D) Such a medication would be unable to distinguish between messages triggered by pollen and household dust and messages triggered by noxious air.
(E) Such a medication would be a preventative only and would be unable to alleviate an asthma attack once it had started.
