NO. 1

The government should enact a bill that would prohibit the sale and consumption of alcohol on commuter trains. Recently, the state, exercising its legitimate authority, passed a law to protect the health of commuters by prohibiting smoking on the commuter line. When intoxicated riders get off the train, get in their cars, and drive, the public is exposed to at least as much danger as are nonsmoking rail passengers who are forced to inhale cigarette smoke.

The gray squirrel, introduced into local woodlands ten years ago, threatens the indigenous population of an endangered owl species, because the squirrels’ habitual stripping of tree bark destroys the trees in which the owls nest. Some local officials have advocated setting out poison for the gray squirrels. The officials argue that this measure, while eliminating the squirrels, would pose no threat to the owl population, since the poison would be placed in containers accessible only to squirrels and other rodents.
Which one of the following, if true, most calls into question the officials’ argument?

Sales manager: Last year the total number of meals sold in our company restaurants was much higher than it was the year before. Obviously consumers find our meals desirable.
Accountant: If you look at individual restaurants, however, you find that the number of meals sold actually decreased substantially at every one of our restaurants that was in operation both last year and the year before. The desirability of our meals to consumers has clearly decreased, given that this group of restaurants---the only ones for which we have sales figures that permit a comparison between last year and the year before---demonstrates a trend toward fewer sales.
If the sales figures cited by the accountant and the sales manager are both accurate, which one of the following must be true?
Which one of the following, if true, most seriously calls into question the accountant’s argument?

1.The goverment plan to forbid the sales and consumption of alcohol on trains. Some people argue that the danger of driving after drinking alcohol is as much as the danger of non-smokers who inhale smoke.
assumption: the two kinds of dangers are equal

2.Only those with a light hand can create a false marble. Since P is a great artest, so even if he does't have a light hand, he could create a false marble.

3.Only 20% people know DNA well while 90% people believe they are well-informed about health care. So at least 80% people do not know enough about health care.

4.Since squirrels are destorying the trees on which owls resident, the number of owl is decreasing. In order to solve the problem. experts advocated that poisons should be put to kill squirrels. Since only rodents like squirrels can reach the box that contain the poisons, the poisons will not harm the owls.

5.Manager: Since the number of meals sold last year increase, it must be ture that our customers liked our meals.
Accountant: It is wrong. The number of meals sold decreased in resturants that both existed last year and the year before last year.

Premise: the total sales of restaurant has increased
Conclusion: customers find that our meals are desirable

P:有一些地方禁止在train上抽烟→为了protect the health of public。

原文A---B, 后面 NO A---B。

削弱:默认20知道DNA的人就知道make policy decision,所以得出80的结论,但是可能20的人只是know DNA, but not personal choices or decisions.
