Waitlist by NYU without interview

Applied in Jan round. Received no further info from the school after submit. Just got the waitlist letter.

Any people get any similar situation before - waitlist without interview? Thanks!

I guess they are. But hvnt seen anyone here interviewed then WL'ed.

So what's the logic behind? I guess no interview means no interests? Then why offer waitlist?
