现在很多美国在职职员自愿减薪，以保职位。此薪的唯一可能是你是律师行的partner，to be a partner,you either worked for the same law firm for over 10 years and established a great source of clients and willingly take any risk; namely, get paid through share of profit and not based on salary.

Or, you already had a pool of rich clients, you used to work for one financial services company and you are switching to another company that provide similar services. you need to be an independent financial advisor and did not sign any legally binding contract with the original company you were with. After switching, you can bring over all your clients to the new company and your base pay would based on the new companies pay policy.

Or, you are a award winner.ex. Nobel prize, Ammy award.... You are hired to work on a project that high intelligence is in demand. you may get paid in that level.

如果是投行或者PE/HF的Associate职位的实习，完全可能，因为这里就是把第一年Associate的工资换算成周薪来付的。但这个一般是针对MBA的
如果本科，恐怕不大可能

另外，针对楼上几位朋友——俺当年也对一些类似的帖子发出了绝不可能收入这么高的判断。后来随着阅历增长，才发现确实有些行业的起薪很高。除了上面提到的金融中的一些领域外，律师、管理咨询也都是高薪行业
这些都是可以靠自身努力有机会进入的行业，当然背后的汗水和辛苦只有自己知道

It is impossible for a intern to make that much. I lived in US around NY region over 10 years and never heard about such thing. I even asked my friend who works in a mid management position at a top 50 company and is a native American. He said it is impossible for a intern to be paid that much in any company in US. Your parents' friend may exaggerate or your parents heard wrong.
