LZ, all I have seen from you so far is " what if", but nothing about what you are doing for getting a PhD AD. I once have similar state, but now when I look back, my advise is: no more assumption. Just think about what is the most appropriate thing you can do now, such as apply for a MSc programme in the UK top30-50 uni or uni in the US, or even go back to China and find a job. Then think about applying a PhD programme.

Also, there are on around 100 biz schools offer PHD............ not all American universities....

如果你有顶级期刊的文章，别人会抢着要你，GPA算啥。可惜，这几乎不肯能。既然你一定想读PhD，GPA又是现实，那么发文章吧。一切的一些，GT神马的，都是为证明你研究潜力的。顶级发不上，次点的也行，楼主想这么干吗？想方设法，做点研究，这就是出路。

totally agree! But show LZ some mercy: it's not easy to do research, if nobody is guiding you.
