从语法上讲应该是还原为who chose to belong (to the cooperative for membership) and paid an annual fee to the cooperative for membership.

我想意思也可理解，硬翻：选择属于这个组织为了 成员资格，这里的for membership有点像apply for membership in the Party。

不过如jerry所说，两种理解不论怎样都应不会产生大偏差，对做题造成影响。

此题我没做过，不发表意见。

题外话：

tianwan 不愧是语法版的版主，在阅读区讨论起来了语法！

有人告诉我：在做语法题时，要精细精细再精细；而在做阅读时，抛弃语法的那种精细，因为对待语法的思路容易造成见木不见林；阅读只要搞懂文章就行了，不管它用什么形式，哪怕是错误的语法，只要你知道了意思，就行了。

我想是有道理的，可是，我却一直难以做到这一点；总感觉到，没有语法的帮助，我就读不懂句子了。况且有那么多生词，必须通过语法的帮助来猜其意思，猜文章的意思。

是不是，我需要扩大词汇量？    （六级 + 看了几眼托福单词书）

我认为是这样的:belong vi, pay这里是vt. 所以是(belong and pay fees)+ to

appreciate further discussion

这一句话中的who chose to belong and paid an annual fee to the cooperative for membership. 从语法上讲应该是还原为who chose to belong (to the cooperative for membership) and paid an annual fee to the cooperative for membership.可这样意思就无法理解。

是不是应该还原为who chose to belong (to the cooperative )and paid an annual fee to the cooperative for membership. 但这样还原从语法上说得通吗？

请NN指点迷津。
