貌似大部分人最后只能去teaching school教书？

我看了一下placement，不看海外的placement，只看在美国的。貌似中等学校也是去teaching school的为多。即使initial placement去了research school，很多也拿不到tenure，要去teaching school。

所以现在读博士的人，大部分最终end up在teaching school教书？

for Chinese student (esp. male), you need to double the ranking of placement. It is sad, but true.

The chart is  statistically true for all PhDs. But since the sample size of management PhDs are much smaller than that of other areas, the chart may not well applied for business schools.

PhDs in management have many financial advantages over those from other disciplines in general. To keep such advantages in the long run we have to contribute higher-quality work. According to James March, management is a special subject,  regarded as secondary in rigor by academics and irrelevant in practice by industry. But with its development, one day we will show how our work impacts the future of business world, instead of serving for the current interests of those who don't know what to do.

In my understanding, only the business schools with doctoral programs can be called research schools, though teachong schools also have some research requirement.  

In teachong schools you often have a very heavy teaching load, which will take up most of your time.  Also, resources in teaching schools are limited.  You may not have access to the database you need for your research.  You may not have enough funding for conference travel etc.

It's a myth. There are fewer teaching schools any longer: most teaching schools have research requirement, while research schools start to focus on teaching quality.

对于有些placement我也不是很理解，Morck以前有个学生，她毕业的dissertation发在JIBS上，毕业之后还和Morck有篇JFE（我assume这篇JFE至少在她毕业时已经under review了），她的第一个placement是Northern Kentucy还是Northern 什么的...

可能有些细节不是很了解吧...

In USA, most universities are teaching. Moreover, Chinese are disadvantaged to find a good job compared with local Americans because of language and race issues.
