有关国籍的棘手问题

有关国籍的棘手问题，第一次来这里，第一次发帖，多多包涵。

偶国内本科，英国硕士，伦敦top投行M&A部门 5年，想申请美国Top 3的MBA，然后去PE或其他买方。五年投行，加上被08年秋天震撼教育了一把，基本上累的散黄了，拼不动了。

本想今年申请的，但一开年就特别忙，经济好转是好事，但如果不得不挪到明年申请，有件事就不得不考虑：如果今年8，9月申请，那我还是中国籍，但明年8，9月我可能要入英国籍了（换护照主要还是为了出差方便和孩子教育，国还是爱的），不知道这对申请的影响是什么？

有人说如果是今年中国籍申请，现在国内本土牛人太多，中国人在Top 3(HBS, Stanford and Wharton)录取比又特别小(真得特别小么？跟Top 3在欧洲的录取率相比呢？)，我又没国内工作背景，是不是会两头不讨好没戏？

但如果明年入籍后申请，我的背景还是很不典型，充其量就是个新鲜移民，会不会还是斗不过欧洲/英国本土长大的？

但还有人说不管我是哪国籍，Adcom招人的时候还是把我划为中国/亚洲申请者，要真这样的话我也就无所谓什么时候申请了。

俺抛了一块砖把iceccn大牛引出来了，觉得有点跑题就编辑掉了，呵呵，ice说的是正解。

在HK应该好找，欧洲不少PE shop都在HK有office的，lz说不定和猎头联系联系回HK，比往美国绕一圈要容易。

在美国做PE也有同样的文化问题，另外还有签证/绿卡问题，因为很多PE公司不像大投行一样有quota可以请外国学生。因为lz即使入了籍，在美国也还是F1, 所以面临的问题都一样的。

我觉得申请时作用不是很大，犯不上为这个等一年。今年申请那么明年8，9月入学，这样去美国前你还是可以拿到英国护照。

Cova， 我也听说过非中国籍在Greencard方面要快点，嗬嗬，但对我还太遥远了，现在首要任务就是读书前保住工作。

Iceccn, 中国人在欧洲作PE里面的LBO或其他EQUITY INVESTMENT部门要难很多，一是语言问题，，英语基本上不够用；二是文化问题……倒是希望能在US或HK找一个，但竞争挺激烈的。

据说PE招MBA做的是senior associate,反正PE analyst 都要做四年，再skip一年junior asso，楼主也不算亏。不过M&A是正对口转PE的投行业务，楼主大可不必通过MBA转，现在直接进去做项目的originator，正好赶上一个bull market trend到时候出手做个partner多爽啊。

正如Daniel所说，国籍这个东西有好处没坏处，我能想到最直接的好处就是将来万一lz想留美，至少H1B和绿卡不用和中国籍的人竞争。

By skimming at your "profile" briefly, I guess your M&A experience would be very helpful if you can JUSTIFY what you want to do by leveraging what you have already done. This is a universal question everyone asks when (s)he is preparing application. But at the end of the day, it is how you can package yourself that counts.
