Dear Duke Admitted Students,

I am a first year MBA student at Fuqua. First of all, congratulations on being admitted to Duke MBA program! You guys did an excellent job!

In order to help you make a decision of whether to accept this offer or not, OR help you make good preparation from now to the date of enrollment, here I open this post to take questions that you may have. I also learn that many of you will meet and network with each other. If you have common questions, you could also post questions as a group. I will try my best to help you, or direct the right people/resources. Though our responses are based on our personal experiences (not official), we want to do it in a way that we demonstrate "Team Fuqua"!

**********一点说明：

各位同学，

首先再次恭喜大家拿到Duke的Offer，并非常赞赏大家积极准备的行动力。

开此贴的目的，是尽我所能帮助大家解答有关在Duke学习和生活的问题。我想，问题大概分成这样三类：

第一类是经验经历类：类似于开学前的求职准备、学校的某个program有什么特色、club可以involve的活动等有关facts和experiences之类的问题，我亲身经历过或者观察过的，可以与大家分享感受与见闻；

第二类是规章流程类：类似于学校是否提供免费的幼儿园等有关学校在教学和运营管理上的规定，如果问题非常具体，我很可能没有亲身经历，最好的途径，是与学校直接取得联系，获取官方的解释；

第三类是介于两者之间的，类似于全部贷款是否在获得visa上有难度，规章流程上，要了解并按照既定程序来，这个需要自己下功夫，不能外包也不能偷懒；经验经历上，我一定会把我知道的分享给大家。

仅在这里做一点说明，希望我能够在有限的时间里尽最大努力帮助大家。

对于创业和VC来讲，Fuqua的资源还是很丰富的，CEI (Center of Entrepreneurship & Innocation）每年都举办很多活动。至于中国人参与少那也不奇怪，一共就二十来个中国人，再加上有志于创业的也不在多数，所以就不太会看到中国人身影啦！不过，这不影响你积极参与啊！

商学院提供的资源再多，最终还是要落实到自己，一定要积极利用资源，勇于掺和，不怕丢人才能有所收获！

能不能介绍一下 Duke P4E 那个创业项目到底有没有实际意义
貌似极少中国人参与

不知道新的Cost of Attendance预算什么时候出来，好像要这个出来后才能办I-20。

Top10, you may refer to prior year cost schedule - it should not be a big difference though.

我比较关心duke的交通问题，据说duke应该是在一个小镇上吧，那么在MBA读书期间如何去network呢？谢谢！

yew, we are driving all day, to school, to supermarket, to malls, to pubs and to whatever place. you have to drive here. in terms of networking, there are so many opportunities. many of the company representatives will come to campus, so we don't worry about that. if you want to do banking, then that's different. you need to fly to the street very often (Wall Street). in addition to that, many alumni will be invited to campus to either share experiences or conduct mock interview sessions, which is very good. speaking about off-campus, then you need to figure out where you want to work, and starting from there. if you are interested in Chicago, then you need to go there. if you want to go back to China, then a lot of communications would be through phones and emails. and you may need to travel back to China during breaks, which is what I did last year. hope it helps!

dukie确实很热情啊。今天刚刚收到admission package.请问一下，给国际学生的non co-signer loan在2010-2011 academic year 还有吗？为什么在admission package里的financial aid general information 里没有提到。学校网站倒是提到了。但是还是想确认一下。不知道哪位在校的前辈来解答一下。谢谢！^^

Robcat, I am not the treasurer, so I don't know. :-) but, I personally do not feel financial aid, specifically non co-signer loan will be an issue. If people can even get it last year (2009), there is no reason why we could not get it this year. Double check with financial aid office would be good though.

hi Shirly, it is good that you are interested in HSM program. I remember HSM program will send out emails around April or May (can't remember the exact time), and this is to consider all R2 admitted students. If you want to know more about the program and timeline, you could check the HSM website @ http://www.fuqua.duke.edu/programs/duke_mba/health_sector_management/hsm_daytime
You will find contacts there. just email them. hope it helps!

学校确认了，I20上要求的只是第一年的资金证明，具体数额2月底或者3月初会确定
