TOPIC
10: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: “people
succeed because of their hard work, luck has nothing to do with
success”.

As a proverb goes like 'practice makes
perfect', many people believe that hard work can lead them to succeed while
luck has nothing to do with it. In my view, not only working hard but also
fortune is bases for success.
The reasons are various as follows:

To start with, without luck, one would even
not get the opportunity to succeed. Imaging that, a hard-working worker devotes
all his energy to work, but what needed for him to succeed is just a wise
manager, who is appreciating his diligence. Otherwise, maybe he will never be
promoted. Isn’t it lucky for him to be charge of such a manager? Another
example, have a look at the growth of the master--Albert Einstein. Wasn’t he
lucky to have so good parents that supported him all the time? Sometimes, it is
luck that casts a light on our lives and that bring us chances to win.

In some extreme cases, being lucky is the
only reason for people to succeed. For instance in lottery, one can win the
prize of thousands of hundreds of dollars at the expense of a little amount of
money. How could he make it without the luck?

In addition, hard work is also a necessity
as to success for most people. It is possibly, however
that someone works hard but he
doesn’t succeed because one may spend his time and energy on some insignificant
things. That is to say, one should not only work hard in order to be
successful, but also work in an efficient way preventing waste of the efforts. For
example, a student studied English very hard for months in order to get a high
mark in the coming test, but unfortunately, as a result of no physical exercise
he got sick just a couple of days before the test. So hard had he worked, but
ended with a failure.

In conclusion, hard work is important for
people to succeed, but luck plays a equally significant role because to some
extent luck means opportunities. On occasion, what luck to success, is also a wise
boss to employee or a healthy body to a student.
