I have friends in Columbia too... :-) The b-school is not bad at all, just do not like people like me and some others who have similar profiles, so I would rather avoid... :-)
Thanks! I feel the same "stuff didn't catch admin's eyes immediately", but I am an optimistic guy, of course will not feel the end of the world... :-) Meanwhile, I already have something in hands... :-)
Actually, why I do not try Columbia is that this school has denied me many times, IE/CS/EE/MFE. I have a feeling that Columbia will reject me whenever my name appears in the application pool, so I would rather save my application fee and energy to write their essays.
Also, I really heard that Columbia does not like Chinese applicants and also does not like IT people. So I am in these profiles, so I even do not bother to try... :-) They discriminated us, why we need to act as a begger...
I may sound harsh. But the fact is that your stuff didn't catch admin's eyes immediately. It is not the end of the world, it just requires more patience.
NYU is in a tricky business. Most people who applied NYU usually applied Columbia too. Both schools usually admit the same group of people. This group of people's choices usually determines the fate of everybody else.
I submitted my application on 2/15/06, till today the status is still "under processing". I hear most B-school is rolling basis. Then how long will I wait to get an initial result (interview, waitlist, reject)? Anyone on the same boat please give a hint... :-)
By the way, I missed the R2 and have to apply for R3 (I am not international applicant).
