10. Michelangelo's sixteenth-century Sistine Chapelpaintings are currently being restored修补. A goal of the restorers修复者 is to uncover Michelangelo's original work, and so additions made to Michelangelo's paintings by later artists are being removed. However, the restorers have decided to make one exception: to leave intact additions that were painted by da Volterra.
Which one of the following, if true, most helps to reconcile the restorers' decision with the goal stated in the passage?
(A) The restorers believe that da Volterra stripped away all previous layers of paint before he painted his own additions to the Sistine Chapel. (但仍没有达到恢复M原作的目的)
(B) Because da Volterra used a type of pigment that is especially sensitive to light, the additions to the Sistine Chapel that ad Volterra painted have relatively muted柔和了的 colors.
(C) Da Volterra's additions were painted in a style that was similar to the style used by Michelangelo.
(D) Michelangelo is famous primarily for his sculptures and only secondarily for his paintings, whereas da Volterra is known exclusively for his paintings. (这个比较有道理,因为da Volterra的painting更有价值)
(E) Da Volterra's work is considered by certain art historians to be just as valuable as the work of additions to Michelangelo's work.

这种调和矛盾的问题在于某壹选项不但符合PLAN, 又不与结果矛盾,也就是说此选项是PLAN  的延伸,达到BRIDGE ACTION  的目的.
A.指出修复已经没有必要,符合结果又不于PLAN矛盾.
D,文中指出Michelangelo's original work既然有SECONDLY IMPORTANT,而PLAN是保护Michelangelo's original work,不论她的意义是否是FIRSTLY OR SECONDLY,所以没有调和RESULT.

but A 的解释仍没达到恢复M原作的目的啊,因为Da V 的痕迹还在

A explains why restorers leave intact additions that were painted by da Volterra: if the additions painted by Volterra were removed, the painting would  be fruitless, since Volterra had striped all layers , including Michelangelo's ,before he made addition to the painting.And D just mentions what made two artists famous,respectively,and thus is not relevant to the explanation of the discrepancy.

A is right. The key point is the question: "Which one of the following, if true, most helps to reconcile the restorers' decision with the goal stated in the passage?"

you should be able to know that the goal of th restoration is to uncover the original works. If something does not help uncover that, it might not have to be done, according to the goal.

D is wrong because you made an assumption yourself that the purpose of this job is to maintain the superior artisitc quality. That is not what the question about. So even if it is Da Vinci's work on top of that original paint, to conform to the goal of the project, it has to be removed.

D sometimes might be the answer for weaken or strengthen problems. But you need to understand the argument first.

BTW, my example might be wrong. Da Vinci might be before Michelangelo...I am not history person...

Most helps to reconcile the restorers' decision with the goal in the passage.

P1: M's 16 Ad SC are currently being restored.

P2: A goal of the restorers is to uncover M's original work is to uncover M's original work, and so additions made to M's paintings by later artists are being made.

P3: However, the restorers have decided to make one exception: to leave intact additions that were painted by da volterra.

If the information is true and there is no any conflicts within the original info, then the intact additions painted by da volterra must be not removed.  

So !!! All we want to do is spot the answer that why the other painter's addition layers could be removed and why we don't necessary to remove the part from Da V, since we need to leave intact of his added part.

A: Da v had already removed all the other extra parts before adding his own.

B: It only talked about Da V's style, and it does not really relevant to the argument.

C: Regardless of the fact that whether his style is relevant to M or not, the fact does not reconcile the paradox.

D: Its not about the " value " of the painting, but about whether the " goal " could be met.

E: Totally off the scope.
