The most effective way to understand contemporary culture is to analyze the trends of its youth.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

观点：年轻人的潮流可以反映一个时代文化的特点，但是并不一定是最有效的途径。
首先，年轻人的潮流在一定程度上反映了一个时代的精神，（1）青少年喜欢快餐（fast food）和短暂的激情（ephemeral enthusiasm），引领了时代的潮流，成为了时代精神的重要组成部分；（2）青少年善于创新，能够引领时代文化发展的方向。
但是，研究年轻人的潮流并不一定是最有效的途径。影响一个时代文化的因素有很多，比如社会中的著名人物，历史事件，民族传统等等，如果只研究年轻人的潮流，不一定能反映社会文化的全貌。
最后，年轻人的潮流总在变，研究年轻人的潮流需要不断适应这种变化，改善我们的方法，以这个为突破口，不一定能快速抓住社会文化的特点。
The trend of youth of society reflects the contemporary culture of it, but it is not always the most effective way to understand it. With the development of human culture, a lot of elements is created to construct the contemporary culture by all the member of a society. Thus, research activity which is performed in this single way may become ineffective or invalid.
First of all, the trend of youth shows an aspect of the contemporary culture, which is an important part of the spirit of the time. For example, nowadays, more and more youth adults prefer fast food to traditional food which promoting the "fast food culture" dramatically. By the way, young people are also favorite with ephemeral enthusiasm and focus more on the experience of their own. Besides, as the pioneer of the times, young adults are usually the pioneer and a lot of creative works are made by them, which has active effect on the contemporary culture.
However, analyzing the trend of youth to reflect the contemporary culture is not the most effective way. Since there are a lot of factors to influence the contemporary culture, such as famous persons in the history, tremendous history events and race tradition. If the research resource is only spent on the trend of youth, the comprehensive overview of the society can not be figured out honestly. For example, more and more young people are fall in love with violent games in the computer which causes some serious murder events in the campus. However, since the major people in society are very kind, this can not represent the contemporary culture at all.
Finally, the young adults' trend is always changing and we have to modify our study methods to adapt this change which will cost very high. Even though corresponding methods can easily be found by the researchers, the main points of contemporary culture may not be always caught up. Thus studying the contemporary culture only in this way is neither practical nor useful.
In conclusion, the trend of youth of society reflects the contemporary culture of it, but it is not always the most effective way to understand it. We should use much more methods to analyze it. Unless synthesized and comprehensive research is done, the correct and precise overview can not be reflected. |
