work at home with the assistance of telephone or work in the office? As technology and technique evolved, peopletend to face more and more choices concerned with the life and working styles. For instance, nowadays, with the assistance of telecommuting, such astelephone, web employers have the option of working at home. Despite variousresponses public may have on the issue concerned with whether the pros ofworking at home weight more than that of working in the office. I definitelybelieve that working at home brings much more benefits for both the employersand employees. First of all, one of the direct advantagesof working at home is to reduce the office cost. These days, it's not uncommonfor manager to make their employers working at home, especially for those smallbusinesses. As you can image, fewerpeople in the office means lower office bills: less furniture to offer, fewerutility bills to pay, less paper to buy, less coffee to provide and so on. Withthe fast internet access and instant communication via mobile phones and videosoftware to response to their superiors or give orders to their inferiors asreadily as traditional employers. Furthermore, working at home means moreflexible time for you to measure. Instead of sitting at the desk staring at theclock all the time, you could do whatever you want at home. Take my sister forexample. My sister Daisy has recently switched to a company which allowsemployers to spend office hours in their own house. Unlike other employees whohave to get up very early to catch the first bus, my sister enjoys a relative relaxingwork environment because she just need to turn her laptop to participate in videoconference, receive the instructions of her work and deal with files subjectedto her approval. The rest of the time is allocated to her hobbies, familymembers and friends. Her life gets distant from pressure and is fulfilled withsatisfaction. As a result, she makes fewer mistakes and becomes moreproductive. Without a doubt, she quickly got a promotion. Last but not the least, working at homemakes some efforts for the environment. With less employees working in theoffice, a significant amount of energy, like water and electronic, would besaved. What's more, fewer people need to drive their cars to work, which leadto less greenhouse gas emission and contribute to the sustainable developmentof environment. In the recent years, a new concept"SOHO" emerges and becomes quite popular. It refers to "smalloffice, home office". As far as I'm concerned, this new method of employmentreally offers more convenience and comfort for all parties in this highelectronically connected world. |
