Some people argue that there will be more cars in the next twenty years because they are much faster and more convenient than other traffic tools. However, from my point of view, the number of cars will decline for the following reasons.
First of all, public transportation will take place of automobile. This is because people are realizing that bus and subway are everywhere. In additon, they don't have to worry about the parking lot. A parking place is hard to find and extremely expensive in some big shopping maills. Instead, what they need to do is just take a bus and then reget out of it in their destination. Therefore, public transportation is more cost-saving and efficient.
Besides, the gas released from the automobile poses a threat to the environment. Based on a recent scientific research, toxic gas from the cars has made the quality of our living go from bad to worse. In addition, the more the cars are produced, the more noise and traffic people will suffer. As we all know, traffice jam leaves much to be desired. If more cars will be on the road in the next two decades, it is hard to imagine how people can deal with the increasing pollution. It is time the authorities concerned took proper steps to solve the problem. As far as I know, in some countries, tax for car purchase has been increasing in recent year in oder to prevent this outcome.
Most of all, fewer cars will boost the national economy in some aspects. There is no doubt that people need to spend a lot money on maintaining a car. They have to pay for the gas, car polish and even insurance etc. On the contrary, if they do not own a car, they can use the money to purchase a great amount of thing, such as clothes, furniture or even golf, you name it. In such a way can they promote the national economy.
In conclusion, I think there will be fewer cars in the future beause people will choose other traffic tools and they care more about the envirionmental protection and national economy.
