Issue#112 “In most fields-including education, politics, and business-the prevailing philosophy never stays in place very long. This pattern of constantly shifting from one theoretical position to another is an inevitable reflection of human nature: people soon tire of the status quo.”
Indeed the prevalent philosophy, including education, politics, and business and so on, has changed consistently. However, this change shifting from one theoretical position to another does not mean that people are easily tired of the status quo. I disagree with the statement. Relatively, I think the change presents that people want to lead a good life and exploit resource well. The following are fondly explanations.
First of all, if we stay in the status quo, we would eventually lose competitiveness and creativity. Besides, the available resources in the world are limited and we could not use these forever. To have a good life, we have to exploit these limited resources effectively and efficiently. Therefore the best way is to change and innovate continually. For instance, companies have to understand client’s need and observe the new trend. If companies do not seek how to cater and satisfy client’s need, they will lack competitiveness and be abandoned. However, the resources are limited, so companies have to learn how to economize their costs to create most profit.
In addition, the world has changed consistently. We could not use the same policies and education to maintain all circumstances. To suit all different situations, we have to learn new things and innovate. For example, in those day, we used DOS., a sort of computer techniques, to deal with our business. However, now this obsolete technique does not satisfy our need. Presently, to meet people’s need, the Microsoft CO. innovates the new computer technique, Window XP. Under different situations, we have to use different skills and knowledge to satisfy our need. Therefore we have to shift theoretical positions. To create most utility in limited resources, people have to learn variety knowledge. Besides, the situation does not always stay the same, so people have to change consistently to go well with the changed situation. |
