Background: domestic 985 schools(ranking 9-12) Bachelor of Engineering. GPA:3.3   new GMAT: 730/5/5.  TOEFL: 109.   6yrs working experiences in Software Development in Telecom Industry(Two north-America renowned Companies in telecom industry).

Want to pursue managerial positions(people or product or strategy) in technological companies(internet, telecom, electronics, etc.) in US after I get MBA degree.

Question: I'm an old man(age 29) with only high aspiration of going to work with the world's talents in high-tech filed,  inspiring them and being inspired, defining, building team to create and market high-tech products,  which MBA in US fits me?

Should I consider CMU(Tepper), UT@Austin, Georgia Tech and UW@Seattle(Foster) as my dream schools?  or they are too good for a guy like me to apply? Any other program?

Thank you!

好好在文书中叙述工作经历和未来的职业规划,你选的学校都有戏,面试要准备好。不过如果读书前没有在经理层岗位干2年以上,毕业后直接做managerial position挺难的,要有思想准备

You should set your aspiration higher than those schools. Your stats are solid. The most likely post-MBA job at a tech firm is product manager, in which you will manage product/process. However, I would advise you to have a more concrete career goal before you proceed further with your applications.

If you are set on tech job after b-school, your best bet is to go to 1) a school with high concentration of tech firms, or 2) a school ranked high enough that many firms will spend money to recruit at (you are limited to larger firms, not start-ups).

Based on your goals, I don’t think CMU or GTech would be good choices due to location. I would encourage you to apply for a few of the top 14 schools.

Thank you very much. I'm sure wanting to be a product manager after graduation.  CMU is not good enough?  It's around 16 right? and is very famous in engineering filed.  Top 14 you mean such as UCB(Hass) and Duke(Fuqua)? I'm afraid I have slim chance because my WE is  plain and I don't have a long record of great activities, only a few sparkle things to tell in my essay.
I've been to Georgia before, I like the place I went to, a small town to the northeast of Atlanta.  It has a technology park where many companies locate.  I choose GTech partly because its program is relatively inexpensive and it provides considerable scholarship, and it's MBA graduates have a high employment rate.

背景和分数都挺solid,学校推荐如下:

MIT/Kellogg/Haas/Ross/Duke

You aren’t exactly an “old man” J Actually applying at 29 is as good as applying at 26. So don't even think about it twice. I think the schools you listed are good for you and do have a tech management strength. You could also look into Haas (a bit harder), Anderson and Ross as a few more good options for you. And with 6 years at American firms plus a very very nice GMAT, I think this could be a good selection for you.

Thanks for your reply.

There are many in NA:
Lucent(Now part of Alcatel-Lucent),
Nortel(already bankrupted and sold to Ericsson in NA),
Cisco
Qualcomm(Telecom and Semiconductor)
Broadcom,
Junipter,
Avaya,
...

LZ used to work in one of them, but now in an American company famous in cable communication and service, still categorized in telecom industry.
