The bestway to teach is to praise positive actions and ignore negative ones.
Write a response in which youdiscuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement andexplain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supportingyour position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or mightnot hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
When educating students, is it always right to praise positivebehaviors and ignore negative one? From my perspective, I disagree with it. Notonly praising positive actions contributes to education but also pointing outnegative ones do has merits. For one thing, we have to admit praisinggood behaviors does draw a lot of advantages in education. Students needto be encouraged by praise during the process of learning. If a student helps ablind old lady to cross the road, he or she should be complimented forconfirming his behaviors. The satisfaction gained bythe encouragement can forge a belief that he or she is doing somethingcorrect. On the contrary, this memory of doing correct things will fade awaysoon without such kind of encouraging mechanism. Therefore, praising positiveactions play an important role in education, providing a mechanism to encouragestudents to develop a good belief of what is correct. For another, granted that praise plays an important role in education, we cannot use praiseas the only means to encourage students. Complacency usually occurs whenstudents are continuously praised. They would only be aware of what bright sideof themselves without discovering their flaws. As a result, they will be livingin a self-centered world and not be able to tolerate others' opinions, beingself-assertive. Therefore, we have to find another way to counter complacency,which is pointing out the negative behaviors. Being pointed out the negativeactions forces, a student students can think through realizing the flaws andcarry out how to correct them, during which improvement is attained. In thisway, the complacency that a student have can be eliminated. Finally, I think the goal of teach is to tell students howto behave themselves in a good way. Both of focusing on positive actions ornegative actions alone could not totally fulfill the goal, which demands us tocombine them together, using them according to various situations. On one hand,educator should give praise to students in a modest way. On the other hand, thenegative behaviors should be pointed out in a mild way. Using both ways ensuresa child develop a balanced manner about what is allowed and what is forbidden.If we teach students in this way, I believe most of students will contribute tothe society in the future. In retrospect, it is necessary to combine praising thepositive behaviors and pointing out the positive behaviors. On one hand,praising the positive behaviors encourages students to work harder On the otherhand, pointing out negative behaviors can make students improve themselves,realizing what is not allowed to do .
提纲: 平衡观点: 1.表扬好的一面可以鼓励学生继续下去,提供motivation。 2.但是单单表扬会激发自满,他们意识不到自己的缺点,所以需要指出不好的一面,是他们发现缺点,改正。 3.总而言之,教育的目的是塑造学生正确的行为,两者缺一不可,需要结合使用。
