In many corporations, employees are being replaced by automated equipment in order to savemoney.  However, many workers who losetheir jobs to automation will need government assistance to survive, and thesame corporations that are laying people off will eventually pay for thatassistance through increased taxes and unemployment insurance payments.

Which of thefollowing, if true, most strengthens the author's argument?

(A) Many workers whohave already lost their jobs to automation have been unable to find new jobs.

(B) Many corporationsthat have failed to automate have seen their profits decline.

(C) Taxes andunemployment insurance are paid also by corporations that are not automating.

(D) Most of the newjobs created by automation pay less than the jobs eliminated by automation did.

(E) The initial investmentin machinery for automation is often greater than the short-term savings inlabor costs.

答案A

E选项从短期上说明了化代替人工并不能使公司save money个不能算是加强吗

Pay attention to the word EVENTUALLY in the last sentence of the passage. We are talking about LONG term effect here, not INITIAL or SHORT-TERM.
