Some thoughts on this type of questions. 20 is the remainder when X is equal to 68. 20 could be the remainder when X is equal to 28 as well. However, 28 won't even qualify the divide by 6 left 2. When you thought about this case, you might be scared to choose 20 as an answer.
I thought it's easier to solve this in a conceptual way. X must be a multiple of 4(and not divisible by 48) to be qualified by the criterion, which is divide by 6 left 2, and divide by 8 left 4. So you can scan through all the answer choices and there must be one that is a multiple of 4. In this case, 20 it is.
If there're more than one multiple of 4 in the answer choices, yuk, that would be hard. that needs another round of elimination... |
