Based on your undergraduate academic history, we have departmentally recommended you for admission to the MSA course plan E. This means that the admissions committee has assessed that you will need to complete three breadth (non-accounting business courses) and all background courses (listed in MSA Prerequisites) as part of your MSA degree coursework. The coursework that has been assessed is 32 credit hours (eight normal courses). Though you have taken many accounting courses in your undergraduate program, those courses may not have used US GAAP framework. You need to be comfortable about the US business environemnt and US accounting standards to pass the CPA exam, which may be of your goals. These courses will need to be taken in addition to the 20 credit hours (5 normal courses) of required and elective courses (listed in MSA Requirements) needed to complete the MSA degree. Before starting your MSA at UIC if you have taken any of the breadth and background courses you may be waived out of those courses. If you need more information about this please contact us. Your specific course plan and outline of courses will be sent to you once your admission has been processed by the University, and you have confirmed your intent to enroll in our program.
While we have made a departmental decision to recommend you for admission, the University's Office of Admissions and Records (OAR) will need to verify and process your application to complete the admissions process. OAR certifies that your undergraduate transcripts are valid and official. Once your submitted documents are verified and processed, OAR will also send you a notice of acceptance into the MSA program. When you receive that correspondance, your acceptance to the MSA program is official and documented in the University records. If you receive notice from OAR that additional documents and/or information is required, please contact the Liautaud Office immediately.
For International students, the Office of International Services (OIS) processes financial documents and issues I-20 paperwork for obtaining student visas. To be able to issue I-20 paperwork, OIS must have documents of financial resources that have been obtained within six months of enrollment, which is August 22, 2011. If your documents have been submitted before February 22, 2011, you should resubmit them with adequate time to process the visa.
