弱问语法定语从句。。。。

定语从句中的关系连词that/which 之类的一定在其引导的从句中充当某一成分吗？
比如：
.....until the last day that they are scheduled to collect, .......
在这里that 引导定从修饰day, 可是 last day是不是没做任何成分说明是错的呢？求解。。。。

我想问的是定语从句的关系连词是不是一定在引导的句子中做成分？

schedule the last day to collect,the last day在定语从句中做宾语，that引导的定语从句that做宾语，定语从句关系代词在句中是要做成分的，如果不做成分，感觉变成了宾语从句或者同位语从句。。。

也就是说 the last day that they are scheduled to collect 在语法上说就应该是不对的吗？
如果是定语的话，that没有做成分。"day"安插不到that后的句子中做成分啊。。
