In the class of 2013, 6442 applied. An admission rate of 16% would mean 1030 admitted. We see that 845 enrolled (actually attended). 845/1030 = acceptance rate of 82%, which seems like a reasonable number. So 40/40 (admission rate=16%) still sounds right to me. They will not apply when a pool is too small (for instance, Singapore, where there may only be 10-20 applicants).
